Kit Overviews

Stage 1: The Stage 1 kit is aimed for a nice overall increase in horsepower that is trail friendly.  This kit is aimed at those trail riders looking for more horsepower, but still having stock reliability.  At 180 hp this will run with or ahead of pretty much any other trail sled out there.  It will get good fuel mileage.  This kit is limited to 6 lbs maximum boost on 91 octane fuel.  Race fuel will not allow you to run a higher boost because the stock fuel pump is not adequate above 6 lbs boost.  This is the gas & go turbo setup for 99% of trail riders!  This kit is intended to be installed on a 100% stock motor!

Stage 2: The Stage 2 kit is aimed to be a good reliable overall increase in horsepower while still maintaining good trail ability.  The Stage 2 includes a new fuel pump, regulator, and larger turbocharger compared to Stage 1.  The Stage 2 kit is aimed at those trail riders who like to have the option of having a little more horsepower when needed.  This kit when running 91 octane fuel is limited to 8 lbs maximum boost, but when using a boost controller, will run a maximum of 14 lbs of boost on 100% race fuel!   This kit is intended to be installed on a 100% stock motor!

Stage 2 HE: This kit is aimed at those who ride both at sea level and in the mountains!  It is also aimed at those who ride strictly in the mountains!  It is the same turbocharger as the standard Stage 2 kit, but uses the stock fuel pump and regulator assembly.  This limits this kit to 6 lbs of boost on 91 octane pump fuel at sea level, but at 6,000 feet and higher with the boost controller you can turn this setup to 8 lbs of boost on 91 octane pump fuel and tear up the mountain sides!  Do you 8,000 foot or higher?  If you do you will have the ability to turn it up to 10 lbs of boost at those elevations and get to scenery that none of your other buddies can see all on 91 octane pump fuel!  This kit is intended to be installed on a 100% stock motor!

Stage 3: This is for the rider who likes grudge racing on the lake, but has a short trail ride to and from the lake!  230 hp on 91 octane pump fuel or 300+ hp on 100% race fuel! 

All Ulmer Racing kits use an industry only cast iron header and down pipe assemblies.  Ulmer Racing provides a 1 year limited warranty on all turbo kit components and a lifetime warranty on the cast iron header and down pipe assembly!

Note: All Ulmer Racing turbo kits can be upgraded easily and cost effectly at any time in the future!  Start out at 180 hp and work your way up to 200+ in the future!

Ulmer Racing recommendations for turbo kits.

·        Air/Fuel Ratio gauge!  It’s not a must have, but should you ever experience a problem it could save your motor and a lot of time trouble shooting!

·        Boost gauge!  Once again, it’s not a must have, the Ulmer Racing fuel system will automatically add more fuel as boost increases, but this gauge will help if you ever spring an air leak or have an over boosting problem and possibly save your motor as well! 

·        Water Temp gauge!  Recommended for those who can get into low snow conditions or those who do a lot of lake racing!  Knowing your water temp can keep you from risking possible detonation and engine damage!
Note: All gauges come with a gauge cup and recommended mounting locations!

·        Clutching!  When adding horsepower it is a must to adjust the clutching properly to harness the horsepower!  All 121”, 136”, and 144” sea level clutch kits include a new primary spring, Super Tip weights, and billet helix!  All mountain or multi purpose (trail and mountain) clutch kits include new rivets for the stock Yamaha FX Nytro MTX weights, a secondary spring, and a Shockwave helix!

·        Gearing!  Recommended for all turbo kits ridden at sea level with 121”, 136”, and 144” tracks!

·        The Stage 1 turbo kit will work just fine with the stock muffler, but when you step up to the Stage 2 or Stage 3 turbo kits then a new Skinz Super Q muffler is included with the kit!  If you already have a aftermarket muffler on your FX Nytro let us know and we can discuss with you whether the muffler is free flowing enough for the turbo kit.  In most cases any of the aftermarket mufflers that will fit the stock exhaust header will work just fine with the turbo kit!
